When it comes to M&A in the pharmaceuticals field, it goes without saying that this trend has remained the centre of attention during the past couple of years among major international players looking for ways to invest in Vietnam’s pharmaceuticals scene. This is mainly due to the effectiveness of M&A in paving the way for foreign investors to distribute their pharmaceutical product to the Vietnamese market in the context of limited drug distribution rights.
However, 2019 marked a shift in the M&A trend in the pharma industry, from focusing on pharma corporations to more emphasis being put upon healthcare and medical services, resulting in major M&A deals during this period. Consequently, many a expert have predicted this direction will not only remain but will also further expand to the realm of improving medical and healthcare technology.
Therefore, in our Article “Legal aid priorities for healthcare M&A in Vietnam”, I-V Legal has provided (i) a brief summary of the overall trend in pharma and healthcare M&A in Vietnam, (ii) key reasons leading to the above-mentioned healthcare M&A trend predictions, as well as (iii) expressed our proposals to remedy the shortcomings regarding the legal framework for healthcare M&A in Vietnam.
